It’s still a couple weeks away but after an especially crazy August I am counting down the days to my annual girls’ camping trip! We’re remixing it this year (because #twins) but some of the tried and true traditions will be in there: a squirrel mask, onion dip, boxed wine, giant marshmallows and some of the best ladies on the planet. I’m so pumped!

Pretty much what’s going on in my brain at any given moment these days.

It’s hard to sum up what life has been like for the last four months. My little loves (nicknamed the bug and the bean) came roaring onto the scene six weeks early, enjoyed a month long stay in the NICU, lived through two blizzards (rude, Minnesota…), met a very skeptical and very large big grey dog and changed everything about our lives. There’s no turning back and we’d never want to. As of April 2, everything is different and we feel oh-so lucky. Thanks for picking us, C&C.

Welp, after 33 weeks of indoor cycling, traveling, home renovations, and adventures, the twins and I are officially on bed rest. If you know me, you know this is going to be a pretty torturous time but I’ve got work to keep me busy (thank goodness for technology!), lots of Netflix recommendations, a library not too far down the road where the Red Head can get me the latest reads, a rekindled love of Sudoku and a pretty amazing support system. I’m not sure how things will be looking around here in blog land but I’m going to focus my energy on getting these babes stronger every day. So, for now, I’m kicking my feet up and living that bed rest lifestyle. See you on the other side!

Maybe it’s just me, but I needed to see these little buggers in my feed today. Thanks for the Tuesday cheer, pals!

Ahh, a weekend wrap up coming to you quite late on a Monday… some things never change. The last few days have been a blur in the best way possible. Maybe it’s nesting, maybe it’s just my nature, but we are checking this off the to-do list around this house. From baby errands, to car seat installs, to paint touch up and carpet going in, we’ve been working since Friday night and it feels good to be making progress. Only bummer? The list doesn’t seem to be getting too much shorter and my stamina is dwindling. The devil really is in the details with this re-model but we’ll get there. Or maybe we’ll just tempt guests to our house to meet the new babies when they arrive and then convince them to stay and help install trim? Seems like something I would do. You’ve been warned! While I get our to-do’s in order for tomorrow (and the next day, and the next day, and…) enjoy these links from around the web.
After baby showers, registries and lots of list making I am armed and ready for a big day of pre-baby errands tomorrow while carpet is being installed. I’m coming for you, Target, Buy Buy Baby, IKEA and HomeGoods. I’ve got gift cards to use, exchanges to make, last items to check off the registry and a lot of coupons that will be put to good use. I’ve also got a back seat full of car seats that I’m still getting used to so hopefully I don’t buy too much because I’m running out of room in my CR-V! Wish me luck!

If anyone deserves a high five this week, it’s the Red Head. Between the dust, fumes, swollen ankles and fatigue I haven’t been in the basement helping with our re-model much at all. You can usually find me perched in bed writing baby shower thank you notes and frantically making to-do lists. Good news, though, we settled on a paint color for the basement living room (after our first attempt fell short). The winner? Benjamin Moore Northern Cliffs! Carpet is getting installed on Saturday, we’re moving some furniture on Sunday (I’ll be supervising) and I can’t wait for our first movie night down there. Bring on the microwave popcorn!

The last two weekends, the Red Head, babies and I have been completely blown away by the generosity of the people in our lives. There was a shower in MN with friends and family from across the country, a Beyonce-themed shower with friends that have become like family and a shower in Chicago (photos above) that brought together people from all stages of my life. It was really humbling to be surrounded by these people and feel the love and excitement as we prepare for this big (!!) adventure ahead. I’m not sure how we got so lucky but I can’t wait for the Erickson Twins to meet each and every one of these amazing characters. But not for many more weeks, please…
